Linux can suit most home users needs far better than MS
Windows XP/Vista/7 and it can be free, or very cheap. You
will have to get use to new applications and a new way of
doing things.
Linux Offers
- Free or cheap
- Stable
- Secure
While it can completely replace MS Windows, Linux suffers
from these things:
- No unified application packaging.
- No unified system controls
- Some hardware not supported, or not supported well.
- More work involved to play computer games
- Projects looking to compete, rather than enhance.
There are several version of linux out there, called distros.
The two distro's I use most are openSUSE and Ubuntu. I would
suggest people to use Ubuntu, as they revolunialized the linux
desktop because they get it. They took an overly complex and
messy envoirment with way to many choices of applications installed,
and simplied. |
